ABOUT INFINITE ENERGY
In 1992, Darin Cook and Rich Blaser were two young utility buyers who knew they could offer new value to the wholesale market. Two years later, they got their funding and have watched their fledgling company grow from a two-man operation into one of the largest privately held companies in Florida.
1994: Deregulation in Florida natural gas allowed Darin Cook and Rich Blaser to create Infinite Energy. The company began operations as a wholesale provider, serving utilities and large industrial customers.
1997: Infinite Energy began supplying retail customers in Florida.
1998: Infinite Energy was among the first retail suppliers when Georgia energy deregulated. Just three of the original marketers remain today.
2004: Infinite Energy began serving customers in the New York and New Jersey markets under the name Intelligent Energy.
2005: Infinite Energy became the first marketer in Florida, Georgia, New York or New Jersey to offer a 5 year fixed rate.
2006: The Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association named Infinite Energy “Supplier of the Year.”
2009: Infinite Energy is named one of the 25 best large companies to work for in Florida.
2010: Infinite Energy began supplying electricity in Texas. The company is again named one of the 25 best large companies to work for in Florida.
2011: Infinite Energy expands its service territories in Texas and is again recognized as one of the best large companies to work for in Florida.
Today: Infinite Energy continues to lead the market in innovation. Corporate headquarters in Gainesville, FL are based in 4 office buildings totaling over 55,000 square feet. The company has additional offices in New Jersey, Georgia and Texas.

I'm reading the new book by Chip and Dan Heath ("Switch" and "Made to Stick") called "Decisive: How to Make Better Decision in Life and Work". So far another very good book from them. Here's a fun stat they shared: according to some study done, CEO's of large companies pay more for acquisitions based on how much attention they've received from the press. This presumably pumps up their ego, leading to a willingness to pay more. On average, CEO's of acquisitions paid a 4.8% premium for each…
