Year 2012 is just around the corner and Progress Energy’s rebate program is poised to assist with the cost of installing solar photovoltaic (PV) systems by offering up to $2 per watt rebate to their customers. This is the second round of solar PV rebates offered by Progress Energy Florida in as many years. The 2011 rebates were completely allocated in the program’s first two days and the utility fully expects a similar level of interest in the 2012 rebate program.
President and CEO of Progress Energy Florida stated, “The SunSense program is a key component of our strategy to assist those customers interested in investing in solar technology. We were pleased with the level of interest demonstrated when the 2011 rebates became available and we’re hoping for a similar response this time around”.
Progress Energy opened the 2012 reservation process to their Florida energy customers on October 4, 2011. The Progress rebate program allocates up to $1 million annually in solar PV rebates for both residential and commercial customers through 2014.
