Google Engineers Grill Sir Roger Penrose: Can Computers be Conscious?

Investors and participants in AI technology may be interested in this video.

A few years ago, while speaking to an audience at Google in Mountain View, the well-known mathematical wrangler, Sir Roger Penrose said: Science as it is, and mathematics and computational theory alone, are insufficient to approach or produce anything like computational understanding or consciousness.

He very briefly explained how science progresses: "Any system of axiomatic procedures that you accept as giving you proofs, you can transcend. And you transcend it by using "understanding." It's a mysterious thing, I think it is. And I don't think it is, ..." [INDISTINCT] "... , something you can get around." He returned to this claim over and over in his long, interesting and a little garbled presentation.
