GAIN members have asked for an explanation of what CEM is used for.  I have been guilty of what I often accuse others of doing.  Particularly my wife. She will (on a frequent daily basis) introduce an object of conversation without mentioning the subject.   After the first five minutes of listening, I find myself wondering what the subject is.  She is making sense, I just don’t know what she is talking about!  If I cannot figure it out; I will ask.  Once she tells me.  I say: Oh! (Not as exclamation, but in that I can finally get it!)  So, I often feel a sense of relief.  I hope members can get the same sense.)

I am talking about Economic Development, Technological Change, and Growth.  CEM links directly to the evolution and development of people, economies, technologies and the science of knowledge and ideas.  CEM is a planning and measuring tool for development and growth.

Joseph Alois Schumpeter (8 February 1883 – 8 January 1950) was a political scientist. An Austrian-Hungarian-American economist. He was not a rocket scientist, but he was nonetheless a brilliant man that came to America from the political establishment of NAZI Germany.  His ideas were solely responsible for the development of evolutionary economics. I am not an economist; anyone can find out about or study “evolutionary economics.”

This is not about that field. This (CEM given Adi’s Model) is a method and model of the natural evolution and growth and development of generic semantics by means of generic equilibrium (NOT statistical probability).  It “speaks” about creativity: creation, construction and destruction.

Schumpeter popularized the term "creative destruction." Evolutionary economics consists mainly of his proposition that: entrepreneurs carry out innovations (at the micro level), that swarms of followers imitate them (in the meso level) and that, as a consequence, “creative destruction” leads to economic development “from within” (at a macro level).

Schumpeter paved the way for a new “micro-meso-macro” (analytical) framework in economics. Now what does this have to do with CEM?  CEM engages the same sort of mechanism (only CEM is an automation). CEM has the same core.  That core is known as “neoclassical equilibrium.” This "concept" is general enough to pertain to everything.  Its existence and use can be found in both the classical physics and economic sciences.
The equations of CEM (based on Adi’s Abstract Science of Meaning and Model MA) are equations that locate and measure order by means of resonance or equilibrium.  There is a tri-level “micro-meso-macro” structure to this measure, the effects of which can be completely understood and predicted from an understanding of the macro-economic or evolutionary idea of Oecononimicus Homo-Sapien.

I put the link behind there to Wikipedia for further reading.  Those who are familiar with AI technology will see that we consider a human being —  first and foremost —  a rule-processing animal and symbol using animal. That is the first signal that we are talking about a paradigm shift for computing and technology.  Center stage is the meso-level of invariant structure.

The essential characteristic of this invariant structure is bi-modality, which we sometimes refer to as (modal) orientation or as polarity.  This means the sense or sensation of (any) one idea (a generic rule) can be physically actualized by many agents (a population). Ideas do relate to others, and, are sensible in this way, the meso-level constitutes a more relevant and invariant structural component of a “deeper” invisible macro structure. The macro part of the world consists of “compound things.”  The meso-Level is that sensible part of the world, we see, hear, sense, feel, know and ought fall in love with.

That “deeper” invisible macro structure is called the “meso level.”  It is a “middle (mediating) level.” It is an invariant structure that feeds off resonance, harmony and “equilibrium” in precise measure.  CEM is methodology for “observing the order and measures that are a) selected, b) adopted and c) sensibly retained” from a “micro level” or a level of atomic constituents: speech acts: sounds, phonemes, alphabets and morphemes.

CEM makes both the micro level and the meso levels explicit and “visible.”  Until now, a few well-informed economists and policy planners “know-of” evolutionary economics, and a little “about” the meso level — e.g., how this tri-level stratification works. Yet, no one, save Tom Adi, has ever “mapped”  or “modeled” the micro-level of speech acts before.  It was never visible.

It was never hardly sensible.  Sounds are thought to be temporal and relative.  “Meaning” was always an invisible “idea” like “electricity.”  “Meaning” is something to suppose or to search for in life.  “Sense” was never an object  —  always a dynamo, a dynamic.  It was always something that is just there, in the air, in magnetism; in people or their heads. Neither sense nor meaning appear to be normal compounds made of matter. Yet, meaning exists! Today! Its form can be contained, manifested, measured, metered, and used.  One might exclaim that it is a crime the way people use language.  People have been (innocently, freely) using language for years.

Equally important is that the rule actualization process unfolds over time. For the first time, it is being modeled as a meso trajectory with “three phases of rule origination:” (!!!) Selection! Adoption! (and) Retention! Here “meso” is not only economic: it represents a process component of visible 'surface’ structure: This “universal macro measure” with a view to the appropriateness of meso components is: generic correspondence.  This also introduces and represents a fundamental paradigm shift that will take place in human knowledge once this idea, or rule, is adopted and retained.

Until now, there have only been statistical probabilities and a general “correspondence theory of truth” or a coherence theory of truth. According to wikipedia: “The correspondence theory of truth states that the truth or falsity of a statement is determined only by how it relates to the world, and whether it accurately describes (i.e., corresponds with) that world (e.g., there are WMD in Iraq).  That theory is opposed to the coherence theory of truth which holds that the truth or falsity of a statement is determined by its relations to other statements rather than its relation to the world (e.g. it does not matter if WMD are found in Iraq-- it does not change anything).”

At the level of ideas: “Fidelity,” “Equilibrium,” or “Resonance” (depending on the subject under-review) is a measure of order; at that, of actual relative adoption frequencies. CEM models and measures the generic equilibrium of knowledge and ideas that have actually been selected, adopted and retained.

For your information (this is a proof):  Economic and technological development first occurs at this deep level.  It happens or unfolds, emerges, or takes place, as a transition from one generic rule to another, inducing a change of order (where ever it becomes successful (retained, adopted)).

On the surface, or at the surface level, —  the “effects” are visible as the new rule is adopted, destroying an old equilibrium (order) and establishing a new one: In the case of America and Iraq: a new order and a new sheriff in town.

This addresses and answers the question as to why there are so many different languages in the world today.  It also explains the reason much of the world hates America (due to the charge of WMD in Iraq).  We tested this idea thoroughly by engaging in dialogue with religious leaders of every faith. It was also researched thoroughly and ideas about it were expressed in two different books on financial policy and economics. One in Arabic and one in English.  I supported the work on the English book. Tom Adi wrote the preface to the Arabic one; a dissenting opinion from that of its author.

In the past, we (my company: MITi) had a hand in supporting a provision established in Public Law (protecting whistle-blowers). The story is in the Congressional Record of the mid-nineties; precedence in racketeering law.

CEM is not new High-tech or AI. Causal Explanation Methodology or CEM is the result of roughly 125 man-years of research, testing and development. Forty of those years are mine and I am the only person in the entire world that knows this much about it.  Adi’s work (of 50 years) is expressed in U.S. Patent (U.S. Pat. 4,849,898): “Method and apparatus to identify the relation of meaning in text expressions.”  We worked closely for twenty-five years.

Tom Adi, my partner, is a computer scientist who spent his entire life thinking about and creating and testing his semantics for language (from the age of 16).  The retention and adoption of his computational model and CEM will usher in a paradigm shift for human knowledge, intelligence and computing.  CEM is a new conception and a new abstract science for the measurement and identification of meaning and how it happens to be and exist in this world inhabited by Oecononimicus Homo-Sapien.

I hope this clarifies the subject of the invention and innovation I am introducing here.

Yes, we agree on this: Ascribed coherence is bad for you and me and everyone.  That is why I am trying to change things; now that it is possible.  Remember that "almost " is a very big word, and: Nothing is impossible as long as there is a willingness to contemplate what is happening here and now. -- Hear?

Dear Ken,

WMD, almost a  million people ( Humans ) die over this lie and it's inconsequential, irrelevant, it is to a machine, That was my point.
