Anyone reading April's book, "The Referral Engine?"  It's my least favorite book so far.  I find too much peripheral information and case studies and not enough about the main points.

Our March book, "Awesomely Simple" was written by Gainesville's own John Spence.

Our first face-to-face Gainesville Business Book Club meeting on 2/23 was great! It was a small turn out, but the people attending were POWERHOUSES! Our discussion was one of the best I have had in a long time. Not all of us read the entire book, but every one of us was able to contribute to the discussion. Hoping more people comment here as to what they got out of our first book.

Next time someone asks you to give an elevator pitch or a 30-second "who are you?" at a networking event, start with WHY you do what you do. So often we drone on about what we do. What makes you special and what makes people care is WHY you do WHAT you do. Then you can tell them more about HOW you do WHAT you do.

Getting so much out of our 1st book, Start With Why. Thinking about the WHY for my biz and I figured it out!  I had fear that I would not get this part. The ideas I have & things I've been doing have been consistent with my WHY, even though I was not conscious of it. The fantastic part is how consciously knowing my WHY has set off a wave of ideas (money-making even!) and inspiration. I could hardly sleep last night!

#StartWithWhy Authenticity means everything you say and everything you do you *actually* believe.

#StartWithWhy - Do the services or products your produce serve as tangible proof of what you believe?

From our February book, "Start With Why" by Simon Sinek: Others can copy WHAT you do and HOW you do it. But your WHY cannot be copied. It's unique. It's intention. What is your WHY?

Andrew .. Thanks for the info.  I think a lot of people can read more than one book per month, so chime in when you find a good read.  Thanks for those suggestions!  In fact, Julien Smith boasts being able to read one book per week.  http://inoveryourhead.net/how-to-read-a-book-a-week-in-2010/

I love reading business books (a number of these I've already read, with Awesomely Simple and Drive being my favorites on this list) and will really enjoy discussing them with others. That's one of the biggest reasons why I don't read as much as I should... because I get so excited after reading them but then get let down because there's nobody else to discuss it with. Btw, Daniel Pink is a great author, but his book "A Whole New Mind" is a much better read (and, I know this is cliche, it has changed the way I live and work). Anyway, look forward to meeting everyone!
