It appears Ocean Tomo is handling the sale of state-by-state IP licensing for roadside alternative energy. They sound pretty broad (too broad?), but figured I'd share in case it was relevant for any local entrepreneurs. If interested, feel free to follow-up with Eric from the email I received below:
Thank you for taking the time to speak with me again today. Ocean Tomo, LLC is offering the Genedics Clean Energy, LLC state-by-state exclusive license to The Green Roadway technology portfolio of 10 granted US patents and 15 pending US patent applications in a sealed bid private auction on the 24th of July. This intellectual property (IP) portfolio is fundamental to creating an infrastructure within the state for harvesting and distributing alternative energy including solar, wind and geothermal.
The intellectual property assets are emphasized towards the creations of a clean energy generation and distribution platform utilizing the public right of way and adjacent to the roadway as its footprint. The exclusive license in a state creates a major barrier to entry for competitors to install solar, wind or geothermal power in any substantial way along a roadway system, essentially excluding others to implement major energy installations along roadway systems without a sublicense from the exclusive licensee in this state. The Green Roadway project is directed toward the generation of alternative energy and a distribution grid system for roadways. The portfolio contains seven distinct technology categories: solar, solar and wind, wind, geothermal, vehicle systems, desalinization, and reporting systems.
The three major value propositions for the IP portfolio:
The ability to capture carbon credit offsets and renewable energy credits. Either by building directly, or by sublicensing the minimum building requirement per state of 100 miles per state of the base system, the installed systems will generate upwards of 4,000,000 carbon offset credits per year across the 50 states. The value of such credits may be anywhere from $12 – $20 per credit in the near term, which has the potential to bring a yearly benefit of $48M to $80M, once systems are operational.
Developing projects to install solar systems along roadways or sublicensing others to do so is very timely, as both federal stimulus package and tax credit funds are available for these projects with up to 80% of costs available to be funded by the government. A cost-benefit analysis demonstrates that these systems are more attractive than existing power generation & distribution systems.
The ability to control the generation of clean energy power by the roadway, creating a cost effective, efficient distribution model for clean energy to power the Service Station franchises, as the service station evolves to be part plug-in battery charging franchise. This IP enables the service stations of today to utilize power generated by the roadway system to charge the batteries, and control the economic model for batteries in the field, that will power the next generation of electric vehicles.
I have attached some of the essential document with this email. All other documents can be downloaded from www.TheGreenRoadway.com. For your convenience we have also mailed you a hardcopy of the materials.
We are very excited about this opportunity and look forward to discussing it with you in greater detail.
All the Best,
