Gainesville Area Innovation Network, locally known as “GAIN,” today announced the “16 Most-Wanted” companies that will fight it out in GAIN’s 2017 Shootout. Four companies will be invited to present their businesses in each of four industry tracks based on the focus of their business: Life Sciences, Technology, Financial Technology (FinTech), and Manufacturing.
Select investors and business leaders from Miami, Jacksonville, Tampa, Orlando, Naples, Sarasota, and Gainesville will choose one company from each industry track to compete in the final “Shootout.” The four finalist companies will then present their businesses to everyone in attendance, and one company will emerge as the 2017 “Top Gun.”
The “16 Most-Wanted” competitors are:
- For Life Sciences: Antibiotic Adjuvant, AP LifeSciences, NeXtGen Biologics, ReLiOx
- For Technology: Heno, Preferhired, Revnet, TSOLife
- For FinTech: Coin Clear, Jellifin, Interest Investments, Mercurius
- For Manufacturing: Apellix, NiekAab Desal, Medosome: Product-Nuteric, Paleoganic
Robb Giddings, this year’s President of GAIN noted that “GAIN received applications from just shy of 50 highly-competitive companies, so selecting only four for each track was extremely difficult. Any one of the applicants could be the first to raise a $5M financing round or book $1M annual revenue. I tip my hat to each of the entrepreneurs for their initiative, talent, drive, and passion.”
“Applicants came from companies all over North-Central Florida,” said David Flores, Interim Executive Director of GAIN.
“We have such a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem here that I can think of no better location to start a business. Success breeds success, and based on this year’s applicant pool, the business community nation-wide should be taking note of what entrepreneurs are building here.”
GAIN wants to thank everyone who applied to participate in this year’s Shootout.
