You'll FLIP Over Gig4GNV's Facebook Contest!

Google is offering Gigabit speeds to a select few communities who can "Think Big with a Gig" and Gainesville, FL should be at the top of their list -- but the deadline for stating our case is right around the corner.  Now that Gainesville's Gig4GNV Facebook group has surpassed 300 members and is growing faster than ever, GAIN thought this was a perfect time to pour gas on the fire -- and you're gonna FLIP when you hear how we're doing it!

GAIN has launched a contest, running from today (3/4/2010) to 3/31/2010 focused on spreading the word about Gig4GNV with every corner of Facebook imaginable. We're so committed to energizing every niche of Gainesville's diverse community, we've offered a contest grand prize of the top-selling FLIP Mino 60min HD video camera -- built specifically for recording and sharing high quality video faster and easier than it's ever been done before (Perfect for instant sharing at Gigabit speeds). If you win and already have an HD camera that melts your face off, you are welcome to choose a $150 BestBuy gift card instead.

Entering couldn't be easier, by doing the following*:
1) Join the Official Gig4GNV Facebook Page and tell your friends to do the same.
2) Create YOUR OWN Gig4GNV-related group on Facebook, targeted to a specific niche you know best -- whether that's just friends, gamers, doctors, artists, musicians or guys named "Chuck".  Include "Gig4GNV" somewhere in the name of your Facebook Group so we can track it.  For example: "Ramen Lovers 4 Gig4GNV" or "Superman wears Gig4GNV pajamas!"
3) Recruit as many group members as you possibly can -- the creator of the largest group by noon EST 3/31/2010 wins*!

*GAIN is the sole and final judge on whether an entry meets these requirements.  Names must be consistent with GAIN's goal of positive Gig4GNV awareness (e.g. no profanity).  Only Facebook Groups created between today and noon EST 3/31/2010 are eligible to win.  Although renaming existing Groups to include Gig4GNV is welcome, those Groups are NOT eligible to win this contest.  Winners will be required to allow GAIN admin access to confirm qualifying entry.

As you can see, we've made it easy to enter, and welcome multiple entries: the more qualified Groups you create the better, but it's more important that your Groups grow! GAIN Board members are not eligible to win. Any questions about the contest should be asked by replying to this discussion and answers/changes will be posted here as well.

Winners will be notified after 3/31/2010 -- that's only a few weeks away. So...what are you waiting for, go forth and FLIP 4 Gig4GNV...

* NO PURCHASE NECESSARY * VOID WHERE PROHIBITED *

Drum roll please...I am pleased to announce the winners of GAIN's multiple Gig4GNV contests. This FLIP contest was our largest, but we also announced a couple more via the Gig4GNV Facebook Group. The result of these contests is that Gainesville cleared the first hurdle of community support, being in the top 5% of all applicant cities with 1000+ nominations. The winners are:

$50 INNOVATION BOUNTY CONTEST: Lynne Guey (video embedded at the bottom)
$50 GATOR BOUNTY CONTEST: James Oliverio (video embedded at the bottom)
$50 AUTO-TUNE CONTEST: no winner, but we still want someone to auto-tune this cheesy video! (video embedded at the bottom)
...and the winner of a brand new FLIP HD camcorder for the largest Gig4GNV Facebook Group is:
Students for Gig4GNV, growing to over 500 members and more than doubling the next largest group, created by Patrick James. Congratulations Patrick!

All anyone can ask is they are not rejected as a crazy man or as being delusional.
