Just Kidding - I have over 10 years experience in the IT field from one of the best companies in the business, IBM. Since graduating from UF in 1989 I have always had a knack for computers. I have just updated my skill set at Santa Fe College and am looking for an appropriate placement. I would like to be considered for a Network Analyst or DBA position. I will graduate in 5/2010 with A+ Certifications in Technician and Essentials. However, there is no comprehensive exam to test and prove my experience. If you hire me, my goal will be to exceed expectations.

Hopefully one of these match you qualifications. If so, you will need to register and upload your resume if you have not already done so.

Another resource you should check out is the weekly CONNECT meeting sponsored by the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce. CONNECT creates networking opportunities for professionals with associate degrees or higher, or five or more years experience in an industry, to local human resources recruiters. Each week will cover different professional insights on transition, and once monthly HR recruiters will conduct mini interviews for open positions in their organizations. Go to for location information on meeeting locations.

We started CONNECT in June last year and averaged one placement per week. This is an excellent networking resource.

Thanks for the tips. I was participating with the CONNECT events for a while, but my schedule is not for the faint of heart. In addition to being a full time student, full time mom, I have to make sure my son gets treatment for disabilities and has structured activities for his hyperactivity. He is also gifted. It's a daunting task and I could not do it without my mom's help. Tell Lisa I said hello. I will check out the jobs that you posted. I am also working with Vocational Rehabilitation.

I checked those, they all interest me, I could probably slide into them quite easily, but the employer will probably have concerns about my gap in employment, due to a disability caused by domestic violence. Therefore if they hire me I am sure they will want to start me at an entry level. I have identified SumTotal Systems as the main company I want to work for. Do you have any contacts there? I am also partnering with Vocational Rehabilitation. I am considering seeing if they will give me an informational interview, I can learn about the company, they can learn about me. That way when a real position comes up that I could be considered for, they can put the name with the face, and I will have been "pre-screened" - please let me know if you have any contacts there....thanks.

I am familiar with them and know that their application process is tightly regimented. They do not give informational interviews. If they have an opening at EmployFlorida.com they will contact you if you apply to their position and meet their expectations. There are a lot of people looking for work and most of the companies we represent take this approach because of the high number of resumes they receive for each opening.
