I just got this update from the Florida Institute for the Commercialization of Public Research of which I'm on the advisory board. This new seed program is great news for entrepreneurs and angel investors alike -- providing up to $300K of matching funds for seed deals.
Dear Institute Partners,
As you may know, the Institute for the Commercialization of Public Research secured a $10M appropriation from the Florida legislature this past session. We have executed our contract with the state and are formally launching the new Seed Capital Accelerator Program which we have been developing over the past few months.
The Institute will deploy a portion of these funds into qualified Institute companies in the form of repayable loans ranging from $50,000 - $300,000. Companies must match the state funding 1:1 with private investment, and this program provides them with an excellent opportunity to identify previously unavailable private sources of capital.
Please share this information with any companies you think could be a fit for this program, or have them contact me directly. The first step for them would be to visit the Institute web site at www.florida-institute.com and click on the Seed Capital Accelerator Program (SCAP) option in the drop down menu under Funding Programs for more information about the program and instructions on how to apply. Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions.
Best,
Jane
