I have a couple of projects that I think, if marketed properly, could actually be successful. I've already built most of two of them, but there are more that could be in action quickly.

The two projects are LocalArt.Biz and NookAndCrannyRecords.com.

I have been simmering both of these projects for years, and could talk at great length about either of them.

I have the vision, and I have the technical skills to build it. I just don't have the business chops to know how to take them to the next level.

Read up on these and let me know what you think.
-------
LocalArt.Biz is envisioned as a community for artists and artfans to connect on a Local level. When Users sign up, they enter their location, like a "Network" on Facebook. It then automatically creates a page for that Location. The idea is to expand everywhere like Craigslist.

Artists can post artwork, and mark it for sale. Artists can enter their PayPal address or Google Checkout ID, or an external "Buy Link". This is designed for linking to Zazzle.com, deviantart.com, or wherever else you might be selling on-demand prints. I also plan on writing extensive help on how to try to sell your artwork online using services like this.

The site has social networking features, where people can become 'fans' of artists, and friends with each other. (The interface for this isn't up yet).

I've already begun development on turning the site into a Facebook Application as well. With Facebook Connect, we can instantly tap into that ridiculously huge audience. I heard there is the ability to allow comment posting on your own site, and it will show up in Facebook. Still have to look into that.

This site would be hugely popular. We could partner up with the scores of galleries, artists, and organizations all over the country. This site would really fill a niche (the art world) that is missing a great tool like this.

Nook & Cranny Records
N&C has been a very small boutique record label in Gainesville since 1994. In addition to the official Label Releases, Nook & Cranny also distributed a number of Self-released albums from other bands. I am now the owner of the label, even though no legal entity has been created this whole time.

Some of the best music ever has come from Self-Release bands in this Town. What I want to do with NookAndCrannyRecords.com is turn it into a online music promotion and distribution service. We would help artists that wanted our services to get their music everywhere, and we would make agreements with certain bands for certain albums if we had the time to invest up front in exchange for a cut of sales later. This goes beyond just uploading tracks to all the stores. I recently found out that CDBaby Digital Distribution already provides a service where they submit your tracks to as many music sites as they can find, and aggregate statistics to boot.

Once I spend enough time getting all of the albums and information I have into last.fm, iLike, itunes, etc. Nook & Cranny will have a very impressive catalog. It don't think it would be hard to get some attention in the industry once the music is available. I would also look into licensing all of that music in films, video games, etc.

Music is now eternal. Any good music will be listened to people that like it forever. This is what makes me feel that it would be worth it to back-catalogue as much of the great music this town has produced as possible. There are at least 10 albums I know of that have never even been promoted.

Contact me if you want to discuss anything.
