What: UF Technology Entrepreneur Bootcamp

The University of Florida is recognized along with MIT and Caltech as a leader in creating technology-based startups from university research. For those interested in creating a technology-based startup company, the Technology Entrepreneur BootCamp is a must. Applicants must have a technology in mind to qualify for this event. This unique opportunity will enable you to:

 

-       Assess if your technological idea is appropriate for a startup company

-       Network with successful tech entrepreneurs and identify potential investors

-       Develop a quality presentation to share with potential investors and strategic partners

UF Technology Entrepreneur BootCamp Speakers

 

Brian Johnson is a Microsoft Startup Evangelist. He manages the Microsoft BizSpark startup program for most of the East Coast. During his 12 years with Microsoft, he has been a Programming Editor for Microsoft Press, a Strategist for MSDN, and Product Manager for Office for Mac. He has authored a number of books including Zune for Dummies, Xbox 360 for Dummies, and Inside Visual Studio.

 

Lou Oberndorf founded Medical Education Technologies, Inc. in 1996 and served, consecutively, as its CEO, President, Chairman, and now Director. Based in Sarasota, METI has been a leader in interactive human patient simulation since 1996.

 

Jim Lilkendey is a lifelong learner, formally educated in computer science who found the people problems in business way more challenging, and interesting, than the technological ones. For nearly two decades, he’s worked with startups to Fortune 50 firms, in widely varying industries.

 

Jamie Grooms has 17 years of experience as a successful entrepreneur in medical technology. A co-founder and former CEO of both Axogen, Inc., and Regeneration Technologies, he provides consulting services to startup companies and serves on the Board of Directors of several companies.

 

G. Edward Evans has been a leader in the telecommunications industry for more than 20 years.  Mr. Evans serves on the boards of Neutral Tandem, Carolina West Wireless, and CTIA – The Wireless Association.  He is also a Distinguished Director for the University of Florida’s Gator Boosters, Inc. and is a Trustee for the World Golf Foundation.

 

Justin Hall-Tipping is a seasoned venture capitalist and entrepreneur, having served as managing director and partner for SG Capital Partners, where he was responsible for all venture investments, and as a partner of NEPA Venture Fund, which specialized in startup and early-stage companies. Justin was also CEO of HeatBeat Corp., a multimedia software company he founded, and director of Reuters’ Date Intelligence Group.Justin received his BSc, with honors, in International Finance and Banking from City University, London and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

 

Stewart B. Davis, M.D.:As a Managing Director, Dr. Davis brings extensive life sciences experience to Postremo Capital L.P.  Dr. Davis serves as CEO and President of DermaSensor Inc., a medical device firm, as well as CEO and President of Bioceptive Inc., another medical device firm. He has been involved in life sciences strategic consulting through his role as Medical Director and Partner at Parasol International, as well as being a Director and Head of the Medical Device Practice at Locust Walk Partners.  He has also served in Medical Director roles to various medical device firms and served as the Chief Operating Officer of SafeStitch Medical.
