Phil Hipol is the COO & acting  CEO for BioAcousTech, LLC and a Project Manager for the Florida Institute for the Commercialization of Public Research.  He has over 29 years of experience as an engineer and manager in the biomedical, semiconductor, aerospace and defense industries, where he has researched and developed several advanced technologies and innovative products.  More recently he was the Director of Engineering for the Research and Innovation Center at the USF Health Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation, and the Engineering/Operations Manager for the CS Draper Laboratory Tampa Bioengineering Center.  During his tenure at USF/Draper Laboratory, he was co-inventor of several medical devices, including the Electronic Catheter Stethoscope (eCath), which received the distinction of winning the 2012 Cade Museum Prize.  He earned his MS in Theoretical and Applied Mechanics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his MS in Engineering Management from the Tufts University Gordon Institute. He is also a member of the advisory boards for the USF Center for Entrepreneurship, the Tampa Bay Innovation Center, the Florida Council of Graduate Deans Professional Science Masters Programs, and is a charter member of the USF National Academy of Inventors.
